The Bush administration is pushing Congress to act on the president's plan for granting amnesty to millions of Mexican workers living and working illegally in the United States.

Amnesty and the related "guest-worker" issue have surfaced anew partly because Mr. Bush is preparing once more to take up the matter with Mexican President Vicente Fox in Monterrey, Mexico, on March 22.

Mexicans got hurt there'd be hell to pay....

I am not talking about abusing anybody, from what I understand it is American citizens who are getting hurt. We have a right to protect our borders since our government refuses to do the job.

SO, PLEASE DON'T JUST SHOOT THE BREEZE ON THIS FREE REPUBLIC FORUM. GET INVOLVED CONSTRUCTIVELY.

Agree. I've already written/emailed/called Bush, Senators, Congressman, Ashcroft repeatedly before and after 9/11. Also spoke up at community meeting with Congressman after 9/11.

It's also important that we educate friends & family. Trick is to be so low-key that the message gets past their media-inspired PC radar.

Yeah, I know. He claims the Utah Ski resorts couldn't function without illegal labor.

To hell with their damn ski resorts and the stupid idiot games. We are talking about survival here and the sovereignty of our country.

All these lying threats about, whos going to flip the burgers and mow the lawn is one big lie. It will be the same people who did it 40 years ago, before this titanic invasion. It was teenagers and young adults, just like I did.

The truth is, that most teenagers don't want to work with bunch of uneducated, non english speaking, 45 year old illegal aliens. And I don't blame them one damn bit. And we should not allow our young people to be subjected to this crap.

The greed for cheep slave labor is pathetic. They are selling this country out for a little higher profit. This profit before patriotism is driving this country into a deep ditch.

Another piece of the FTAA/NWO puzzle.

Besides, who do you think is going to provide funds for your social security check?

When both parties ignore the wishes of 90% of the citizenry, that is TYRANNY.

I've been saying Treason but Tyranny is the better word for it.

Didn't some ranchers try this in the Southwest? I think the result was the Mexican government threatened to bring in the U.N. on human rights charges and US law enforcement threatened to charge the ranchers with kidnapping or unlawful arrest of something and warned them if any Mexicans got hurt there'd be hell to pay....

Nice to know what side our government is on.

Chris Cannon could use a wake-up call from his constituents. I can't believe the majority in Utah support giving illegals all these benefits. Orin Hatch is no better. I don't know what these guys are thinking.

"antidote to tyranny"

I think we should have a 3-pie rule. Any politician gets pied 3 times in one day has to go home for a month. Then there's the super-soaker option. Any politician getting pied 4 times in a day, has to go home for a year, and he as to wear a sign in public that says "I soaked you, now it's your turn, you can soak me", and everyone is free to soak them with a super soaker.

Grape juice is acceptable soaker media

All of the money for social security will be spent to subsidize Mexico and its citizens anyhow. I invest, I don't rely on the government for anything except for defending our nation and they aint even doing that.

,,,if any Mexicans got hurt there'd be hell to pay....

A lot of citizens and legal resident aliens are getting "hurt," but nobody seems to care. Like the people who live on the border where a lot of illegals cross, who live in terror and have been forced to get barbed-wire fences, guard dogs, and/or guns. Many of these illegals sneaking across the border are NOT nice people! Contrary to what we are told, they are NOT all nice, conservative, hard-working, Catholic, potential Republican voters. Some may be, but all too many are dangerous. The many ways that citizens and legal residents are getting "hurt" by these illegals are too numerous to mention. This is so frustrating. The American people have made it abundantly clear we do NOT want this! It doesn't seem to matter! What else can we do?

And the taxpayers of America are subsidizing their higher profits by paying for all the welfare that illegal aliens now DEMAND. We are a nation of fools.

There was a post earlier about calling, e-mailing, writing letters to our Representatives. While I don't say not to do it, I can remember back in 1996 when the Senate was debating splitting the immigration bill before them. One dealt with legal reforms, the other with illegal reforms. Spencer Abraham was fighting to split the bill because he didn't want legal immigration touched. The two were combined into one bill at the time. The public overwhelmed the Capitol, urging them not to split it, so legal immigration could be fixed also (myself included, calling and faxing them). It did no good. Spence and his allies won the day, and legal immigration continues at nearly 1,000,000 a year. Bottom line, it's going to take removing these characters from office. That's all they understand.

Tom Tancredo Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus

This is the only friend we have in congress. This guy deserves our support. He gave a really good speech on the house floor the other night.

James W. Ziglar, commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, for weeks has been insisting the issue is alive.

This Ziglar guy is the proverbial Fox that guards the Chicken Coop. Wait a minute doesn’t he work for Fox? Vincent Fox? Whereas Ziglar, as commissioner of the INS, should be concerning himself with protecting our borders, apprehending illegal aliens and deporting them he instead works the other side of the street by busying himself with helping corrupt Mexican tin stars circumvent our immigration laws. In fairness though, I’m sure he is not straying very far from the Bush agenda; which is the larger problem.

The electorate don't have enough sense to get rid of the garbage.

It can be done. Both Spencer Abraham and Dick Chrysler, who sabotaged that 1996 immigration bill were thrown out by Michigan voters. If people are given the facts on this issue, they will respond. Problem is, for most people, immigration is not on the top of their agenda at the moment, unless you're in a border state.

Read post 132. I meant it for you. Not that it's much, but it's really the only solution that will ultimately work.

Absolutely right. Not only that, another aspect of this epic invasion of illegals from Mexico (and elsewhere) is that it hampers innovation in countless ways. When wages are plunged down to artificially low levels there is little economic incentive for companies and inventors to find new ways to automate certain work, like in agriculture for example. Yep, all this talk about Mexicans doing work that Americans don't want to do is a BIG LIE.
