Yep, that's me--one of the "lucky five percenters"--carrying the weight of 95% of the individual tax burden.

Congress's and the IRS's job is mainly to shake money out of the private sector to fund their bullsh*t wasteful programs. When others commit tax fraud and consistently get away with it, wage earners like me ultimately end up ultimately paying their share. The money has to come from somewhere, and higher payroll taxes are EASY compared to chasing down tax-cheaters.

Suppose that the IRS collected $0 in tax one year. Do you think that the government would shut down for lack of money, or do you suppose that they would merely print more? Another question: are the dollars collected in income taxes actually deposited into government accounts and used for the following year's expenses, or is it merely to pull money out of circulation?
