"I know of no grievous sins which the Queen Mother has perpetrated on the British people, quite the contrary, and I would sooner have one of her than 50 lawfully elected Kennedys, Boxers or Byrds or their ilk that pollute the capital of this country.

God bless the Queen Mother."

I agree, was sad to hear she had a Fall, very serious for someone her age. We must realize that she's just suffered the terrible loss of her younger daughter...I know my grandmother failed terribly when her youngest son died of a h/a.

..any insult from a defender of royalty, I take as a complement...

It was neither insult nor complement.

Just an observation- that you're a peasant, with envy issues that need major addressing, while the Queen Mother is a lady of charm and dignity who has spent her life in the service of others.

As soon as you acknowledge that, we can move on.

..<\sarcasm>..

Thanks for the clarification.

Your 'humor' is about as good as your spelling.

hey Byron ... no need for name calling old chap . i harbour no ill will toward queenie mum ; it's just that stinking grovel system called a monarchy that i take issue with . like i said on another thread ; why not put the royal family in Darlington semi-detached on a middle class income and let them prove themselves in a TV serial ? the queen could run a little grocery shop and she'd be known to all the neighbors as " Queen " . Every customer would receieve the same gracious smile and quick inquiry as to the family ... Philip could sell ecology equipment to factories ...He'd be good at his work and believe in it ... Stong middle class message there ... Charles would be a successful pop singer . Then they'd all get knighted one way or another and wind up back in The Palace stronger than ever !

And you find the crown is now an "altruistic" group, concerned about oppressed peoples the world over.Concerned over the parts that they do not yet rule. And so we get the "indigenous people's movements",many financed by the crown,to topple governments around the world,so the "international community" can have unfettered access to the raw materials and human labor that were formerly part of sovereign nations. The crown is a major part of the "international community".

(Closed-caption for the humor-impaired: < SARCASM >)

You left out the part about the Queen of England running the international drug trade.

" . . . that you're a peasant . . . "

Hey, I resemble that remark! Peasants are the salt of the earth, and, more often than not, the stoutest supporters of the Old Ways, including (where appropriate) monarchy.

What we have on this thread is a gang of low-life anarchist bomb throwers. There goal is a classless society in every sense of the word.

You seem like a reasonable sort, but I think this whole argument is spiralling into extremist ranting. For example:
It seems you want to "conserve" all the tyrranical governments of the world, simply because they already exist.
Respect for English cultural, social, and political traditions does not show any desire to conserve tyranny. If all governments claim their just powers "from the consent of the governed," it seems to me that you and the more strident opponents of the Royal family would have to prove how the English are kept in bondage against their will. Emigration is permitted, and the franchise in the UK is no different from the franchise in the U.S. I am much more worried that Parliamentary majorities continue to return Leftist / Internationalist governments than that the residents of Windsor Castle inherited the place. In other words, Tony Blair is a much more dangerous character than Elizabeth II.
Don't you think that the people should be free to choose their leaders? Do you believe that more nations should be republics, or do you think only the people of the US deserve that?
In England, there is an anti-monarchical movement. It is small and rather lunatic fringe. Effectively, the English electorate has chosen its leaders and, schizophrenically, they have Blair as their functional leader and the Queen as their symbolic leader. It is ironic, but I have an idea that Her Majesty's ideology is a lot closer to that of American conservatives than is Mr. Blair's. But she has always respected the electoral decisions of her subjects. I am sure that there are some days she would just like to send that poisonous chipmunk to the Tower with the lot of his NWO,co-conspirators, but that would be a "tyrannical" act in defiance of the express will of the people. Our neo-Jacobins are so blinded by envy and hatred that they have failed to see this.

And, yes, republicanism is a good form of government, but perhaps not the best for all people at all times. It must adapt to the culture and the culture must adapt to it. If you try and force implementation, the societal shock could lead to a Weimar Republik / Third Reich transition.

Republicanism worked pretty well in the U.S. for the century we actually HAD it. If only we could return to it.

No, but she could raise all sorts of holy hell (royal hell?) if she really wanted to, given the mere "Gentlemen's Agreement" status of their constitution. Just imagine if she ever refused to sign one of those new laws.

Or better yet, imagine if she dissolved Parliament and called out the Guards to defend the dignity of the Crown...

I figured that it was common knowledge.

It's not a 'stinking grovel system', bud.

It's an institution that has stood the test of ages and has been a rock on which to anchor during times of trouble, like World War II. The scum on this thread attacking the Royals are clearly so personally insecure that they need to insult their betters in order to feel elevated in self-worth. You need to take the chip off your shoulder and grow up.

Matthew 25:41-46

41 "Then he will say to those on his left, `Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44 "They also will answer, `Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45 "He will reply, `I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Praying that an old woman who is now burying her youngest child burns in the pit of hell will find you in that hell yourself. Christ ordered, yes our King commanded us, to treat everyone as if they were He. When the day of judgement comes, your behavior to others will be used to judge whether or not you loved Him and kept His commands.

Ok, I do like royalty now.
It's Valentines Day. I think I'll take my girlfriend to Burger King. We're going to order some Big Kings with king size fries and drinks.
Then we're going back to my place and get in the Queen sized bed

In over 3 years on FR, this thread has got the biggest bunch of locos I've ever seen

Unfortunately, the concept of "noblesse oblige" and its practice by people who could well choose to do otherwise is lost on today's selfish generation, including those who blame all their own unhappiness on the fact that someone else has been born with more.
