this is what the founding fathers warned is "the tyrrany of the majority", and tried to carefully guard against.
we don't live in a Star Trek society, but hopefully a society that values individual liberties above fear.

IIRC, there were a few attempts after Pearl Harbor (which was not all that different from WTC). The fear was no less than what we face now, and no less justified. There was at least one serious such incident perpetrated by Germans at that time (fortunately, it was thwarted).
Funny, no ethnic Germans were interned then, it was only the different-looking/talking/worshiping Japanese who were interned.

The request is to remove the illegal aliens, confirm that those with Green Cards are not bogus and carefully screen any who attempt to enter in the future. Is that OK with you????

On a personal note, my dad is friends with John Bass, who owns Bass Farm Sausage.
John knows more about the War of Northern Aggression (a.k.a. the "Civil War") than almost anyone else I have ever met.
None of us have the complete story yet, I could see many ways where the Truck Driver may have been inclined to elude the Neon,
(1) Driver or passenger was pointing weapon of some sort at driver.
(2) Driver, knowing he was carrying a full load of fuel, decided that running was better then taking a chance on having the truck flip or jackknife and exploding.
(3) Driver, not knowing what these idiots would do, remember the word "Suicide Bombers"?, decided to high tail it to safety.
Can anyone here say they would have done different given the info above? And the fact that a Terrorist alert was issued just two days ago? If you can, I congratulate you on your brass ones.

Mohammed was swift to shed blood (Rom. 3:15-17); Christ shed His own blood for the salvation of many (Eph. 1:7).

And I find it odd that you ask "what good are they" when including "work card immigrants": they're WORKING here, duh! they're not getting paid for nothing!
That's true, but you forgot to mention that they ran a check point and were found with beaucoup fake IDs in the truck. Just a couple of innocent tow truck operators..right.
We don't need internment of American citizens, just alert, patriotic, loving, and armed citizens.We don't need "internment" (a cuss word, IMO) of legal permanent residents either. All that does is make enemies out of people who aren't our enemies. Never mind that pesky Bill of Rights.
It's pretty much a guarantee that those advocating internment aren't likely to be candidates for it.
