The AARP Foundation topped the list with $98.5 million, followed by the National Older Worker Career Center at $90.6 million, the National Senior Citizens Education and Research Center ($74 million), the National Caucus and Center on Black Aged ($72 million) and the National Association of Hispanic Elderly ($43.9 million).

Is it any wonder that old people have abandoned their values and are voting DemonRat in droves? (I'm not trying to just bash old people. The kiddies vote DemonRat for treehugger reasons, the old people do it for the AARP goodies.)

HEADLINE: URP! BOSSIE'S ROLE IN GLOBAL WARMING FACES STUDY

DATELINE: SALT LAKE CITY

BODY:

Remember the $300,000 study of whether cow flatulence contributes to global warming? Now the government's spending even more money to analyze what comes out of the other end of the cow.

The Environmental Protection Agency has given Utah State University a $500,000 grant to round up rangeland cattle and fit them with special breathing devices that measure the amount of methane cows release when they burp.

The new grant lets Utah State expand on a $300,000 study that began in 1991 at Washington State University and provoked widespread ridicule.

At the time, the Washington State researchers tried to disarm jokes about cow flatulence, saying 95 percent of the methane comes from the front end of the cow.

"Methane produced by cattle appears to be a consequential factor in global warming," said Ken Olson, Utah State range livestock nutritionist.

Anybody want to tell me what we got for our "investment" in this?

Some details, also from the Landmark Legal Foundation web site:

Associated Press - Some EPA Grants Given to Groups

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Environmental Protection Agency doles out numerous grants each year to nonprofit groups, many without competitive bidding. Some projects that have won awards since 1993.

The Cranbrook Educational Community in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., got $4,900 for a project on honeybees. Michele Arquette, a naturalist, said the program taught schoolchildren about pollination. Six poor schools were provided videos and beekeeping equipment.

The Economic Policy Institute in Washington got $60,000 for a conference on whether charging drivers auto insurance by the mile would reduce car usage and, therefore, pollution. No state adopted the change.

The Center for Democratic Renewal in Atlanta got a $6,500 grass-roots grant. Beni Ivey, executive director, said the organization passes grant money on to local groups that lack tax-exempt status. One recipient was the Newtown Florist Club of Gainesville, Ga., which has been trying to get a toxic waste site cleaned up.

Bat Conservation International in Austin, Texas, got $30,000. "The aim of the project was to conserve bats and their habitat," said Brian Kealy, the group's director. "There was a big risk to more than half the species which we consider vulnerable to decline." The money was used to form an alliance of researchers and industry representatives from the United States, Canada and Mexico, and send out literature.

The Cumberland River Compact Inc. of Nashville, Tenn., received $5,000 for a "Splash Bash." Margo Farnsworth, executive director, said the project taught teachers to perform water quality tests and pass on the information to students.

The Center for Resource Management in Salt Lake City received more than $300,000 over eight years for an ongoing project entitled "Golf and the Environment." Paul Parker, executive vice president, said the project brought together the golf industry and environmentalists. A booklet entitled "Environmental Principles for Golf Courses in the United States" was produced. Voluntary standards were developed for pesticide use, water use, wildlife protection and erosion control on courses.

Very nice. Many military bases have facilities that are totally falling apart. Congress refuses to release any money to the MILCON budget, but crap like this is getting funded right and left. Just goes to show you who is paying out the best kickbacks.

Thanks for the ping!

As you, know this is my mantra, "Follow the money to the envirals and from who/whom it came. Then follow the money from the envirals to re elect and elect the demonicRats!"

Of course every person who got one of these sweetheart extra little salary was a card carrying voter for the DemonicRats. Incredible!

Thanks Jean. This is one of the dirty little secrets that most people don't know even exists.

That is the funding of the anti America/American envirals by the EPA with our tax $'s!

Any figures on how much of this went to overseas projects? I hear quite a bit of the EPA money goes to foreign countries.

And frankly I could care less if it revolves around overhead or benefit, they are both equally wrong and equally unconstitutional. I believe we fought a war over redistribution of wealth, or was it taxation without representation, duh, same thing. If there is anyone on this board who thinks AARP is anywhere close to a conservative protector of the "rights" of old people, I have some coal reserves in a certain part of Utah, Arizona, that I could let go real cheap.
