This article concentrates on the fact that our billions to the UN actually mean we don't owe the UN in back dues. I agree with that.

The more important part, however, is that this money was taken from the Pentagon's current budget during those years. This means that modernization, training, spare parts, updates on equipment, ammunition, operations, R&D plans, etc., all were shortchanged. The Pentagon complained about this for years, but no one listened.

Even Congress turned a deaf ear while the Pentagon budget was raided. They didn't want to appropriate more for the 5gon or for Clintonian adventurism. That's why readiness went to hell.

The Clinton's also raided the DOD for their hundreds of foreign travels and the expense of protecting those two worthless souls and their entourage of favorites who gave the DNC contributions for the favors rendered. Mrs. Clinton paid back a pittance for her travel in and out of the country and the congress allowed it until Americans began to complain as to the excess.
