It saddens me that the parents need a PR Firm. What's up with that?

So let me ask you folks this- if you have a standard sexual relationship and also have kids do you do it in private? I would think so. So if you have a non-standard sexual relationship and it is in private (or maybe not even in the same house)what's the difference? Your sex life is still private. And would you not be able to explain to you kids that there many kinds of normal lifestyles- make your own choice? And if you do swing at what point did you become a child abductor? And what other alternate life styles do you think should warrant the taking of your children?

Go to the other thread, that's turned into the *lifestyle* thread. This one is still discussing the case.

It sounds like the mother most likely invited the kidnapper and likely killer of her daughter into the house. Sounds like another Jon Benet type story, swinger parents trying to protect their lifestyle more than their kids.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Van Dam: If you swim with the sharks, you really shouldn't be surprised if one bites you.

I've never heard of the Benets' being swingers but I admit I'm not 100% informed on the case- got some links?

The tow truck driver did not change his story. He made a mistake on his timeline. Instead of helping the neighbor out of the sand on Feb. 2 it was Feb. 3. I don't know if the one day change in timeframe is really that crucial. Everything else in his story stayed the same.
To: 1FreeAmerican
No I don't have any links but there were quite a few stories about the Benets' interesting parties. Someone doesn't just break into a home and rape and kill a little girl in the basement while the parents are sound asleep. Maybe when the parents are wide awake, drinking, drugging, and orgying it's easier to do that.

Where did she and her friends get the pizza that they shared at 3:00 AM?
No resturants were open at that hour.
If the pizza was frozen, there would have been no time left to eat it, as the party-goers left the van Dam home within 30 minutes.
Where was the Daddy, whilst Mom was out dancing the night away?
Was he asleep, or in some way incapacitated, and unable to hear some one in the house?
It smells.

One of the "partners" might be the real biological father of the child and this may be, in fact, a "paternal" abduction.

How can this family afford to hire one of the most expensive corporate PR firms? Why not only the hired guns but the most expensive machine gun?

I don't think the parents themselves had anything to do with killing their daughter. I think the neighbor (the child porn owner did). But that doesn't mean the parent's sexual lifestyle isn't relevant. In other circumstances, it wouldn't be relevant, but in this case it is. They seem to have been involved with their "swinging" lifestyle (which they are not denying) instead of being concerned about their children like a "normal" parent would be. As many have said here and on other threads: What the heck kind of parent sees the alarm signaling a problem and doesn't check to see that the kids are ok? And trying to hide what they were up to would explain their odd responsese and their evasiveness which many people (who have seen their interviews) have remarked upon

If the party goers left in 30 minutes there was hardly time for 'swinging'.
Perhaps if her pickup for the night was a sixteen year old but that's unlikely.

L.King been married 7 times and what's his hang up? Ahem, it's at least 8 and I think 9, but it's been a while since I've read anything about Larry's personal life.

That is my feeling also. Something is beginning to stink real bad.
