I believe Saudi Arabia is 90 to 95% Sunni. There may have been heavier concentrations of other sects before Abdul Aziz retook Riyadh from the Rasheeds and later united it into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Do you know if the Rasheed clan is Sunni or Shi'ite? Could the closeness of the Al Sa'ud clan and the Al Wahhab clan since the 1700's ensure that only a majority of Sunnis exist in Arabia? I had 2+ years of Middle Eastern studies and over a year of study in Islam. I don't think that they ever intended to portray their native countries in a negative way (can you imagine a Yemeni Jerry Springer). What I have noticed among the Saudis I've known, is a general dislike of the Al Sa'ud family. It seems that an average Saudi will be severely reprimanded by the Mutawwas while the Sa'uds break every rule in the book.
