I just called up Dillon Precision to order some .45 ammo. The order-taker tells me they are all out of Wolf and Sellier&Bellot ammo, and that the reason is that there are new restrictions on the importation of foreign-made ammo since 9/11
I then call up Cabella's, they're out. I go to the SportsmansGuide.com web site, they're out of stock on Wolf and Sellier, same deal at cheaperthandirt.com

My .45 doesn't mind Wolf ammo, but my .40 won't fire it. I had to give it away to a fellow shooter whose Glock didn't mind. Reloads from LoadX and Miwall are acceptable. At the last gun show in Sacramento, there was plento of ammo other than Wolf. Same for the gun show in Vallejo, in December. I have no idea what's going on with the S&B and other imported ammo, but a paranoid mind like mine can always assume the worst.

Cheaper than Dirt S&B ammo cheaper than dirt? i just phoned them... they don't get wolf any more... she didn't know why...
their webpage showed this: "Sold Out Due to Terrorist 9/11 See New Part AMM-520" for centerfire pistol .45 ammo
the vast majority of their wolf ammo shows 0 stock on hand.
What the hell is going on?

I read that because a gun manufacturer (dont know the details) had marketed a 'handgun' that will fire 7.62x39 ammo, that ammo with steel or other than lead core, is now considered 'armor pierceing'. Which is under a lot of restrictions. I had no problem getting wolf 7.62x39 last week for $2.00 a box from AIM.com.....but any restrictions that can be imposed will be...First firearms, then alcohol, then tabbaco...

"Although the product selected is not currently in stock, it is expected to be in stock within the next two weeks. If you wish to order it now, we will ship it to you when it is in stock. Your credit card will not be charged until the product ships.
From the Cheaper Than Dirt site.

it's february... is the supply chain that shallow? even with JIT you'd think
they'd have recovered in 5 months.
this is just weird.

Do you buy any reloads for your .40 shooter ?
To: glock rocks
Ok guys, blame me. I shot a few more rounds than usual since 9-11. I didn't think anyone would notice.

We have had about a half dozen gun shows here in Tallahassee, Florida since 9/11. There are plenty of AK's and the prices are pretty much the same as they had been for the past couple of years(well, some dealers have had them overpriced for years too). I have overheard dealers saying that they are doing pretty good since 9/11, and I noticed that the crowds were at least double in size(CCW classes appeared to be packed).
There seemed to be a good supply of other "assault weapons" as well. However, they are mostly post-ban AR's, or the same expensive pre-ban ones that they cant seem to sell. We only see a few FAL's, in comparison with AK's and AR's.

it's february... is the supply chain that shallow? even with JIT you'd think they'd have recovered in 5 months. Maybe we do not really know the full extent to which people have been buying guns and ammo since 9/11. You think the media is really going to report the truth?

I shot a few more rounds than usual whew... thanks for speaking up, i was getting a bit of a guilt complex there.
i didn't think i shot that many rounds.
speaking of guilt... wolf is the mini-14 owner's dream. my mini throws the casing about 30 feet,
and if i'm shooting remington, i am compelled to go find the brass. aack. at least
with wolf, it's guilt-free fun.

I've had a hankering for a Mini 14 for a long time but never found the right one at the right price. Any suggestions on what to look for ?

my .40 shooter is new. I have shot maybe 100-150 rds through it. I don't know enough about reloads yet.
I got a CZ 75B that shots .40 S&W. I thought about getting the 9mm 'cause you can get large cap. mags w/it, but decided to get the larger caliber.
Here's a pix of the CZ 75B with the satin finish, but I got the 2-tone model.

Try the Mini-30! Shoots 7.62*39, much more effective for shooting larger varmints.

You think the media is really going to report the truth? hehehe... maybe all those admonitions to b.l.o.a.t. worked?
To: glock rocks
I use Wolf in a mini-30 for the same reason.
To: SauronOfMordor
Personally, I don't like feeding steel cased ammo into my rifles, it wears the hell out of the feed ramp and chamber but quick.
To: dd5339
the problem i've seen with the mini-30 is the magazines... doesn't anybody have a quality
high capacity mag for the 7.62 mini? i was hoping to find some
thermold mags (that's what i use in the mini-14, wonderful) but
i haven't been able to find any for the 30. they were built in (gasp) canada, i think.
anybody?

TC contender can be ordered to chamber any round made and have been for long long time.
