BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentine authorities detained a passenger aboard a United Airlines jetliner Thursday after he tried to enter the cockpit during a flight from Miami, officials and the airline said. The unidentified passenger was restrained by the plane's crew and later arrested by police after the flight landed as scheduled in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital, said Jorge Reta, an Air Force spokesman. Authorities did not identify the passenger, but local reports said the man was reportedly a Uruguayan citizen. United Airlines said it had notified local authorities and the FBI about the incident. Uh, the 2000 Census revealed that over 50% of those living in Florida weren't born in the U.S. -- and that's not counting illegals. It's no coincidence that the hijackers felt safely anonymous here (just another group of foreigners), or that South Florida votes overwhelmingly Demoncrat.
You bet it has. Everyone who plans on flying should think and decide what to do in case action becomes necessary. We were discussing what would we do if .... and we're not planning a trip anytime soon. Someone pointed out that weapons are everywhere on planes. My youngest son decided his size 13 shoe might make a good weapon.

OK, this guy was on a fligth from Miami. The Shoe bomber (now isn't that an interesting name for him) was on a flight to Florida. We had a bunch of the 9-11 highjacker/terrorists who trained and stayed in Florida. Let's not even talk about the "voting chad of broward, or the butterfly ballot fake controversy." But let's just look at the terrorist aspects, including the anthrax letter to the tabloids and the kid who flew himself into a bank building. The terrorists and their sympathizers like living, going to or coming from Florida.
What are some odd pieces of informaiton about Florida that might explain this. You have suggested that Florida is a melting pot of non-US born folks within the US, with a lot of illegals. I suspect that you probably are implying that people in the state (including the police) have a don't ask-don't tell attitude toward people who may not legally be in the Country and this attitude is an important cover for terrorists and their sympathizers.

This guy was probably just a drunk...but the terrorists have NO CHANCE of doing what they did on 9-11. The passengers in the first class cabins are all totally into disabling and disarming the disruptors!

I wouldn't say that. They gave the copilot enough time to get the axe ready. A gun might be a better defensive weapon, but an axe is still pretty decent. Far better than a "stun gun". I hope any pilots who are offered stun guns set them aside and take up the axe instead.
If the pilot and/or copilot has a weapon, all the door has to do is slow down an attacker long enough for the pilot/copilot to ready their weapon. If the pilot/copilot are disarmed, the door must be able to resist an attack for 15+ minutes; longer on international flights. Which seems more plausible?
Why don't you find out how the Israeli airlines deal with this problem. I'm assuming they're provided with enough food and drink within the cockpit to take care of their needs so that the cockpit door isn't open. Why bar a door to prevent intrusion if you're going to open the door from the inside to get food and possibly leave the cockpit vulnerable?
