He said it was unfortunate that Ige's cap was removed in his palace, adding however that the incident was without his knowledge.
Any explanation for the cap?

ALL CAPS is rude. Tragically, the Ooni's men interpreted it thus: all caps are rude. They removed Ige's cap, a deadly insult in Ife high society. Other stuff followed.
It's
plain as day.
