It happens to all ships but at while refueling could be a major problem indeed. It's pretty tight quarters between the ships. But that's why we practiced Emergency Break Away. The tanker I imagine hit a hard starboard turn when the hoses came down.

Yes my fellow shipmate that is why we did drills following each unrep, but this proof to me that The Kennedy is not ready to put to sea let alone deploy she need real repairs and The Navy is worried about losing face during a time of war. Putting a group of ill trained kids on a ship that is falling apart around them is not right at all.

Good afternoon, cva66snipe.
I was just commenting below (#25) and saw your post. Darn it, these ships SHOULDN'T be in the shape they have reached.
The problem is, once you have a seriously deteriorated ship, it just can't be brought back 100%. Someone messed up badly on this one (X42). We need this kind of force availablity if this "war" gets any bigger, and we just won't have it, in either personnel or ships, readily available.
There was a time, as we all know, when the 66 was the best in the fleet, no real contenders for the title ;-) We were proud to serve aboard her.

Thanks for the heads-up. During her recent INSURV inspection, the Kennedy was unable to conduct a full-power steering test, since one of the ship's propeller shafts was inoperable and she was incapable of sustained speeds of more than 19.5 knots.

Bunch of wussies in the Navy. We use to refuel doing 200K, with less than 100 ft between aircraft, with a four inch hose. In emergency breakaway, the weak link would pop, what a thrill that always was. Guess the AF will have to start giving instructions. (Just Kiddin)...
