I seem to recall some mention regarding this "fake nukes" a couple of months ago. The sheer lack of details and the abundance of hearsay was probably the reason that there have not been any cogent news stories regarding it. Ya gotta have details, if you are going to report something like this.

I had heard that the price was $15 million for 2, and they passed the smell test for Al Quada. Only when the deal was done was it discovered that they were fakes.

I guess that even the Russian Mafia is not stupid enough to sell them the real thing, knowing what they probably had in mind!

Wait a second. What the hell would a Russian Mafia be doing with a nuke and how is that considered somehow an ok thing when it's not if it's in Osama's hands. I guess there are degrees of Ok-ness. I for one am not please to think anyone other than a recognized govt is in possession of a thermonuclear device.

Abso-damn-lutely right. Russians have every bit as much to lose from al queda as we do. They may not be the Great Satan as we are, but they were the ex-Satan in the 1980's and terrorists have long memories. Also the Russians are having great success at killing Chechen terrorists, definitely losing points with al queda there. Nobody wants to see these fruitcakes with a live nuke.
