Doctors at the Naval fleet hospital said yesterday they were treating two of the detainees for mental disorders - one was being medicated for post-traumatic stress disorder and another for manic depression.

Of course, this could also mean that the patient has been admitted to a private ward for 'special treatment', if you catch my drift.

Manic-depression also known as bipolar affective disorder is not the same as "depression." With the former, behavior can become so manic as to be violently chaotic...certainly one could not effectively interrogate a person in such a state.

On the other hand, severe depression can lead to serious physical disorders and may be even life threatening. It's difficult to interrogate someone who is so depressed they can't think straight or so sick they're on the verge of death.

You've obviously never dealt with anyone who has bipolar disorder.
