Sheila Jackson Lee, Limousine Liberal: Does she think the ethics rules don't apply to her?

I hesitate to post this because it will seem like the standard inside the Beltway excuse of "everybody does it." However, I will because I hate hypocrisy. Yes, Queen Sheila completely sucks and is a gerrymandered tyrant. Along the same lines (except for the gerrymandered part), Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison lives just 2 blocks from the Russell Senate Office Building, where she works. She is also ferried via a leased car driven by a Senate employee to and from the office. Although not as nasty and demanding to airline employees, she has done and continues to do very similar things to what Queen Sheila has done. I'm not quite sure how comparable the Senate Ethic rules are, so I'm not sure if she would be nailed on this. It seems that many of our female lawmakers are like this - I've seen firsthand the Hutchison treatment, and I've heard horror stories from Mikulski, Landrieu and Boxer staffers.

Now before you rake me over the coals, please note that I have voted for KBH in every election she has ran in, and would probably work for her again if given the chance. But, that doesn't mean I agree with her behavior.

I missed Brit Humes early show yesterday so I taped his late show and watched it this morning. I'm thankful for the coverage of SJLee but I must say that if Sam Dealy, the reporter, writes like he speaks one could suffer a grand mal seizure after reading one of his articles. What a goober!

While lawmakers are generally allowed to flout traffic laws to get to the Capitol if a vote is in progress, on this day the first vote wasn't for another hour.

What the heck? They can't even get to work on time? Are votes that spontaneous that they don't have to obey basic speed laws, etc? Give me a break. These people are waaaaay out of touch with reality.

Buffoons like this Congresswoman are the result of gerrymandering the South so all the democrat (black) voters are packed into a handful of districts, leaving republicans with the rest of the seats on a secure basis. The problem that results is that members of Congress don't have to appeal to anyone other than their core constituencies. Further, creating solid black democrat guaranteed for life seats mean that if the democrats control Congress, all the committee chairs go to these people because of seniority.
