and aren't too happy that CNN basically reports that the guy's head was blown off without any confirmation whatsoever.

Blown off would be out of character, though it is my personal opinion that his head has been removed from his body.

Is this just another example of CNN in its Death Throes before the long knife bean counters at AOL slice, dice it and sell what's left.

I feel like buying a little AOL stock and then sending them weekly emails to cut the cancer, CNN, and throw it away before wasting more money.

I really feel that CNN as we know it will gone way before GW runs for re election in 2004. It would be nice if they disappeared before this year was over.

MarMema, That's true, it's usually just removed for display. Although the photo with the gun to his head gave more imagery to the CNN report.

Also, the thing to remember about this whole episode is the bogus email was sent to Fox and CNN. Fox played it safe. CNN decided to be the hero and announce the alleged death news instead of getting comfirmation and verification of the email. In doing so they decided to become part of the story. They should have just passed the email on to negotiators and reported what the negotiators determined and thought was prudent to make public.

CNN didn't consider that these guys don't think like us. It's possible that upon hearing a hoax as "news" that the kidnappers world feel offended, double-crossed and lied about, causing them to change whatever plan they may have had to release him unharmed. So if that were the case, CNN could be responsible for his eventual murder. They would then smugly report that they were right all along to go with the story.
