You may be thinking of what it would take to destroy the massive containment domes of the nuclear reactors. You are correct that they are very strong. However, many tons of used fuel are outside the containment domes, in pools or in dry storage. Those may be covered with nothing more than a tin roof and are not secure against rocket attack, much less the force of a loaded jetliner.

You are dead right. The real target would not be the containment vessel itself which is usually double walled with 5 foot thick concrete walls with solid rebar surrounding an inner steel container. But the leftover waste outside if hit and burnt in a fire could spread radioactive waste everywhere. All the more reason to get the waste depository in Nevada open ASAP.
