I dunno. Opening trade with China only feeds their military. We have tons of reasons to severly curtail trade with China (human rights abuses, unfair trading practices, shooting down our surveillance planes, threatening Taiwan,etc) but we don't. These things are quite plain to see.

China did not 'shoot down' our surveillance plane. Wong Wei flew his hotdog-fighter pilot butt into our surveillance plane, got himself killed and lost a Chinese plane in the process.

I agree. And everyone that bleats about NAFTA resulting in exporting of jobs to Mexico, barely raises a whisper about "joint ventures" resulting in once American made products being made in China. It is not as apparent, as the game plan is to make subcomponents there and "finish" assemblies here to disguise the origin of the bulk of the work.
