I suspect someting a little les sinister, like the guy walked over a freshly fertilized lawn which will show up as explosives because of the nitrates in the fertilizer Then why did he run...and why hasn't he turned himself in, if he had nothing to hide?

Cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine (RDX)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also referred to as cyclonite, or hexogen, RDX is a white crystalline solid usually used in mixtures with other explosives, oils, or waxes; it is rarely used alone. It has a high degree of stability in storage and is considered the most powerful and brisant of the military high explosives.
RDX compositions are mixtures of RDX, other explosive ingredients, and desensitizers or plasticizers. Incorporated with other explosives or inert material at the manufacturing plants, RDX forms the base for the following common military explosives
Hope they find this guy.

Yeah, I thought the most incompetent, arrogant, abusive boobs were "checking" passengers at Detroit Metro. Looks like San Francisco is posing some stiff competition at least in the area of incompetence.

I'd hate to find out what residue is on Billy Jeff Clinton's shoes.

used in mixtures with other explosives, oils, or waxes; Note to self:
Do not shine shoes before trip.

So do they still have his shoes or not? Is he really running around barefoot?

I'm working at a port of entry in Arizona, and I guarantee you that when we question someone we don't just let them leave the area before we're done with them. They get tackled, hooked up and locked up, but they don't just "run away".
Then we say," Welcome back home, citizen".

Shouldn't they be on the lookout for a barefoot guy?
That's what I was thinking... Shouldn't they have made him remove his shoes? Do they still have it, or did they tell him it was OK to put back on... I live in SF... might have to fly out of Oakland next time I need to travel.

geez-o-pete, can't any of these security people do their dam job? What, do they have only one guy working the gate/sensor/thing and no one assisting him in case they need to grab somebody for questioning? Did the "suspect" have someone with him to attract their attention so the shoe-guy could get away? Unbelievable...... (slaps hand to forehead)...

For those that might have missed it.

Then why did he run...and why hasn't he turned himself in, if he had nothing to hide?Ahh yes, the "if you have nothing to hide" business. Maybe his driver's license was expired? Maybe he was in a hurry. Maybe he didn't want to have his money stolen by the kops/"security" screeners. The list is endless. If you have nothing to hide why should you object to (fill in the list of all sorts of intrusive and unconstitutional police state activities). I don't see fleeing as an admission of guilt.

I don't see fleeing as an admission of guilt. I do. He could have just politely told security that he was not going to fly and be escorted out of the airport..if he did not have anything to hide.
But, instead, he caused a whole airport to be shut down.

There is a O.J. Simpson joke in here somewhere, shoes, running through airports, etc.

The really sad thing is that most young people in this country have never even heard of Joe Foss, and he's only one of America's greatest living heroes. He's even profiled in Tom Brokaw's book The Greatest Generation.
