I'm sorry but if you want a FL driver's license, and FL law enforcement requires a full face photo from every driver in the state, then either give the photo or take a cab. Because if you don't have to give your photo to law enforcement, then, I shouldn't have to give my photo to law enforcement.

I think showing one's face is important in a free society and a requisite of honest and open human interaction. Curious what you guys, as libertarians, think about this.

It's the law of the land, were we in their country, we would have obey both laws of the land, and the laws of their religion.
No picture ID, no driving.

Oh boy, this really irks me. I am so sick of these people I can't see straight. A drivers license is a privilege, not a right. If she doesn't want to obey the laws, then she doesn't get to privilege of driving. End of story!

Do you need a full-face photo to get a driver's license in Saudi Arabia? How about Iran? How about Iraq?
Perhaps she would be much more comfortable in a country that would respect her multi-cultural diversity.
And does she wear that thing over her face while she is driving and talking on the cell phone and yelling at the kids in the back seat? I think I saw her in the next lane a few days ago ...

This sounds like another idiot who just tries on different religions until they find one that they think fits.

I remember, when I first got my Florida drivers licenses starting in the 50's, there were no photo's at all. Then, I think in the 70's, they started putting on photos. But once, I was over seas, and couldn't get back for a photo, so they gave me one which had 'no photo required' in the picture box. Then later in the 80's or 90's I was again overseas, I tried to do that again, and they said no, law has changed, and can't get one period, without a photo. So I had to get an international license, and drive on it, until I got back to Florida and could get a new photo-license.

It's much easier than that.
There IS NO RIGHT to drive. None, Zero, Zip, Nada. Driving is set up as a Privelege. Period. End of Story.

My religion prohibits me from paying taxes. Think I can win in court?

but her husband said she did it only because she spoke no English and was unsure of her legal rights. Just saw this and don't see the problem. A license is not a right but a privlege. period. No picture, no license. Where is the problem?
This is a law enforcement issue and has absolutely nothing to do with religion. I am really getting sick and tired of these whiney non citizens pulling this crap then the American Commie loving union AKA ACLU, suing to force OUR government to bend over to these thugs.
When will this end?

-- A 34-year-old woman is suing the state for suspending her Florida drivers license after she refused to have her photo taken without an Islamic veil. Excuse the all caps...BUT IS THIS COUNTRY REALLY THIS STUPID that a law suit like this would even be entertained by the courts. STUPID is as STUPID does!!!

No picture ?? NO LICENSE ! This is America and when in America you do as Americans..... It's the law, period ! In fact, if in her country she would not even have a license. !!

Want to make a guess on the outcome? How can veiled woman cash checks or have any kind of ID.. If they want to live in a society like that they need to go home.
Does anyone know what NYS does? I will refuse my pic on the grounds of religious discrimination...I am sick of this stuff!

I don't show my face to strangers or unrelated males," Freeman said in an interview Tuesday at the office of her American Civil Liberties Union attorney. Fine don't show your face, move to a country or don't drive. I don't think they should be allowed to drive with a veil on either. Anything that obstructs vision should not be allowed.
Follow our laws or leave our country.
