Gov. Jeb Bush has raised expectations for minorities, and the results are now in: more and more of FL's minority students are succeeding.

For decades, Florida's minority students struggled to escape a reputation for doing poorly on Florida exams. Educators despaired of bridging the chasm between what minorities achieved and what white students accomplished.

But evidence is emerging that intense efforts by students, parents and educators are beginning to shrink the gap.

The lowest-performing minority students have made significant gains on state tests during the past three years, according to new figures.

Kids recieve no upbringing & take that barbarianism to school; where the teacher(s) are supposed to *fix* it, eh?

This is an excellent point, Landru. In fact, it is THE reason many new teachers decide to leave teaching, and THE reason many parents cite as why they shell out thousands of dollars to send their kid to a private school -- where barbarians are tossed out immediately.

Well now just look there; we agree. {g}
summer dear?
I *knew* you could relate, alright.
Of course, sarcasm aside, this situation with the brats is a sharp & double-edged sword.

...teachers teach, & parents parent; in a *perfect* world.

"I'm not sure but I think we agree... Am I right?"

Do ya think?

"Trying to read in between the lines of sarcasm..."

My style I guess.
Take it or leave it; but you asked, eh?
Gonna be a politician, are ya?

...is that right.

"I am pleased to call you FRiend, even if I can't figure out if you agree with me or not..."

You're missing the point is the reason for any confusion you might be experiencing.
"Friend," and "Agreeing" are not mutually exclusive; dependent one on the other?
In fact, in an ideal setting the two concepts coexist in perfect harmony.
Know what else?
There's a word used to describe the relationship in our complex English lexicon -- would you believe.
The word is, "respect."

"...its always a pleasure to read your posts."

...uh-huh. ;^)
