had told the London Times, "When I see an American flag flying, it's a joke. This present government in America I just find disgusting, the idea that George Bush could run a baseball team successfully - he can't even speak! I just find him an embarrassment." Altman even said he was thinking of moving to London for good, because, "There's nothing in America that I would miss at all."
But after coming under fire for his traitorous remarks, Altman backtracked on Friday, saying his remarks were "taken out of context."
context????... um.. please STAY in London!

"I think Mr. Woods is off his medication," Jean Abinader, managing director for the Arab-American Institute in Washington, told Zap2it.com. "Only a lunatic would speak like this. He needs to start dealing with reality." Abinader says his group is considering issuing a formal "Action Alert" over Woods' words.Abinader then paused and looked out the window. Curiously she perceived an AC-130 gunship approaching in the distance

I wonder if this group issued an "Action Alert" to condemn the September 11 terrorist attacks! And what is she implying here -- is she discriminating against him on the basis of a perceived disability (aren't lunatics protected by the ADA?)
I'm a very proud American," Altman declared in a prepared statement. "I've lived in New York City for over 30 years, and I love the city. I was born in Kansas City. I fought in the armed services in the Second World War. If something I said was taken out of context, I'm sorry about it."
What was out of context? It's not the first time he bashed America, and it won't be the last.

And I thought I liked Mr. Woods before this. Now I think he should run as head of the motion pictures union. Let him make some speaches that will maybe help the delusional typical hollywierd libs.
To: kattracks
I guess I'm a lunatic too...
Altman is a PoS. Never let others forget his words. May he never escape them.

James Woods is one of only a few celebrities who spoke out publicly against Clinton during impeachment. Woods descibed himself as a classic liberal democrat in the mold Harry Truman and JFK.
I will never forget how outspoken he was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno during impeachment. He openly accused Clinton of wagging the dog by ordering worthless air stikes done stictly to divert public attention. He also made a sarcastic remark about Barbara Streisand that was something like "Oh, I better shut up about Bill and Hillary. I don't want to get Barbara Streisand mad at me".
The highlight of his comments was that any president of the United States who looks at Monica Lewinsky and thinks to himself "Oh yeah, I have to get me some of that" is defintely lacking in judgement.
It was definitely the best network TV I had seen in years.

. . .important to keep this in 'context'. . .'terrorist diaperheads'; so we should not have to worry about their banning or suing etc. . .and those that are offended for them, should be considered nothing short of 'pro-terrorist'.
This makes at least as much sense as people getting upset about bad names for bad people.
If the 'diaper fits'. . .

But after coming under fire for his traitorous remarks His remarks are not traitorous. He doesn't like this administration and its policies. He fought for this country and contributed to its wealth and reputation. He's an upstanding citizen and has every right to express his opinions publicly. No way is he siding with someone else against our interests.

What are the chances of Altman directing a film with Baldwin, shot entirely in Europe and only released there? I guess he won't miss our money, either.
