I don't think "stand-off" accurately conveys what's happening. It implies an impasse, when the fact is we're probably kicking their mangey asses.
Battle of the Bilge
The “allegedly” crushed Taliban launched its “Mother of All Battles” today, Causing thousands of NA Afghani Troops and American Special Forces And British SAS to flee in terror. For months the Taliban, its “Foreign friends” and the willing labors of the local Afghani Tribesmen have been painstakingly planning the great counter offensive against the Great Satan and his henchmen.
The plan though simple in construct was monumental in deployment. Five Hundred Tanks were dragged up the Mountains and hidden in caves at the highest possible altitude. Originally they were to be used to shoot down on US aircraft catching them in the valleys below, Regrettably this did not happen. America’s cowardly air strategy was to stay at higher altitudes. The Military minds of the Taliban, however, were not dissuaded. The Great Omar, himself fell into a fit and dreamed of a great victory. All five hundred Tanks were raised from their caves, manned with 10,000 volunteers from Islamic provinces of the Peoples Republic of China with their swords in hand. They then advanced down the mountains towards the cowardly Americans , British, and their traitorous Afghani henchmen. In minutes, they took territory that it had taken the invaders weeks to secure. In a tremendous flanking maneuver, the Americans and their lackeys were cut off from supplies below. As they sped past the Disciples of Satan this reporter saw most of the enemy troops keel over grabbing their mid sections and falling to the ground in pain and death throngs. The prowess and strength of the Taliban swordsmen is legendary. Surely, many of our enemy were felled with each majestic sweep of the sword’s of our magnificent warriors. The Taliban warriors, swords in hand, upon reaching the bottom of the valley surely dismounted their tanks and charged up the mountain to meet the enemy and finish off the startled, isolated and decimated enemy troops.. The valley became smoke filled as American Aircraft flew overhead unable to see the carnage below. This reporter is sure that when the smoke clears the Taliban victory will be complete. Revenge is sweet and the sword is stronger than the arms of any enemy.

American Lies and Fabrications.
The reports coming from Western Reporters about the Great Offensive of the Taliban are lies, distortions and delusions of a humbled and decadent culture. They Report no Americans, British or Afghani hurt were in the Talibans “Battle of the Bilge”. The only injuries they report were severe cramps from their Troops who said they had never laughed so hard in their lives and that they had fell on the ground because of their laughter The scene they describe is so fanciful that no one in the Islamic world will believe it. It can not be true. First they say that our Illustrious combatants for Fundamentalism were not in control of their tanks, nor did any of our sword brandishing warriors make it down the mountainsides. The billowing smoke they say of what assuredly was the destruction of the Great Satan and his minions (they liars and prevaricators that they are) was the dust stirred up by the uncontrollable tanks as they careened down the valleys. Their Press reports total destruction of our forces and no Western or NA casualties.

I'm betting its a few (3 sounds good) T-52s, a few BMPs (10 is fine) and about 50 Toyotas. Reporters were never very good with math.
