Interpretation of law allows confiscation

CUMBERLAND -- Under the current interpretation by the Maryland attorney general concerning the confiscation of firearms, citizens who had misdemeanor transgressions at any time in the past could have their guns taken, according to Delegate Kevin Kelly.
Such misdemeanors include cheating, defamation of private persons, unlawful assembly, blasphemy, profanity, common scolding, disturbance and disorderly conduct.
"As long as a person could have been sentenced to one year or more in jail, their guns can be confiscated," Kelly said.
"If you actually spent more than a year in jail then you did something bad and I don't want you to have a gun either. But like in Larry's (Dicken) case, two young bucks got into a shoving match and he has been law-abiding ever since then. He should be allowed to have his firearms."
Dicken said he didn't even use guns until after his son graduated from high school in 1998 and he found himself needing something to do.
"My brother hunted and I got into it that way and found that I enjoyed shooting and hunting," Dicken said.
Kelly said his fellow legislators tell similar stories involving their constituents elsewhere in Maryland. His request in October for state police to quantify such confiscations and explain the individual convictions upon which actions were based has gone unanswered.
He is sponsoring a bill that would prevent state officials from enforcing the federal statute that allows confiscation of the weapons. It also would prohibit anyone who was sentenced to a year or more in jail from owning or possessing a gun.
"I'm hopeful that the bill will pass and that I will be able to use the firearms again," Dicken said. "At first I was so upset that I brought in my American flag from out front. I felt like I didn't have any freedom anymore. Then Sept. 11 came and everybody everywhere was buying guns to protect themselves, but I wasn't allowed to protect myself. Now, I've got $5,000 worth of guns I can't use and I paid for a membership at the Fort Hill Rifle Club and I can't shoot. I hope it works out. I really want to go hunting next year."

In another generation, the kids will snitch out grandpa's hidden Remington for a free pass to Wally World.
And the boys by then will be so totally "socialized" that they would rather french kiss another guy than touch a gun.
Reminds me of something that I read of FR last year. Some poster had attended Patriots Day in Ma, and there were the usual vendors selling plastic things including guns. He noticed some kid asked his masshole mother for a toy gun and not only wouldn't she buy it for him but told him that she would never buy him a gun (or something to that effect). The irony is pretty intense.
BTW when are you going to finish your book so that the rest of us can READ it?
Here's the deal, in a nutshell. Everybody take notes :)
There are some Bad People who want to control the world. These are Very Bad Bad People. They are Powerful Bad People. And they've been working on their plan for global control for at LEAST 100 years.
It's not a conspiracy, although it was for many years. Today it's right out in the open.
Two countries that MUST BE brought down - because they are/were free - are the U.S. and Israel.
The U.S. is almost gone, thanks to their relentless "education" of successive generations in government schools. The majority of Americans no longer have a clue who they are or where this country came from - or the price that was paid to buy it. The masses here in the U.S. will WILLINGLY give up what's left of their freedom, as evidenced by even so-called "conservatives" supporting such things as the so-called "Patriot" Act and the Office of Homeland Security. Just as it happened in Nazi Germany, they won't know what hit them until it's too late.
And America MUST BE disarmed. While the sheep might not have a clue about who they are, they DO still have an innate feeling that they are, somehow, "free." And eventually they will resist; at least some percentage of them will. So the guns have got to go. And they are, piece by ratcheted piece.
Israel is another story - they are a country that is technologically advanced enough to have nuclear weapons, and they have a survival mindset that cannot be tolerated by Those Who Will Rule, because they won't willingly surrender to global rule either. So, since the surrounding Arab nations are no match for them, an internal foe was invented - the so-called "Palestinians." And the current nonsense in Israel is going to continue until, probably after a large number of their military is eliminated in some kind of attack, the only thing they can do is "ask" for help from the UN. At which point the Powers That Will Rule will be happy to supply "peacekeepers" to Israel. And Israel as a free nation will cease to exist. Think about it, people - do you see why Israel hasn't been allowed - primarily by the U.S., which plays a BIG part in the coming global ruling elite - to successfully end Arafat's nonsense?
So there you have it. If you connect the dots, it becomes quite clear. And the people who want to have global rule have accelerated their agenda since 9/11, because it gave them an unprecedented opportunity - the American sheep are now willing to give up unprecedented amounts of freedom for security - even the so-called "conservatives," because, after all, we have a Republican president calling the shots.
Myself, I'm a Christian, and I know how the end plays out, so I'm not really all that worried. I can live (or die) with whatever happens to America, because the Lord reigns, and this world is only temporary anyway. But it's gonna get mighty interesting shortly. As someone else said, batten down the hatches - a big storm is coming.
"A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a Democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by dictatorship.
The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence; from dependency back again into bondage." --Frazier Tyler
We're almost come full circle. The question remains whether or not we will be able to move quickly enough into spiritual faith and courage to win back our liberty as our Forefathers did.
9-11 may only have been the prelude.
I hope I have a chance to do all three
Just make sure you are shooting at a meaningful target before the moment that you no longer will be able to.
I wouldn't worry about finding Great Courage and Faith quite yet.... we've got some really painful times coming up when we move from Complacency/Apathy to Dependence (almost 50% of the nation already, judging by the last election), and then 'step forward' into Bondage. The really ugly times hit after that, so that Spiritual Faith is all anyone has left. Let's just pray Courage wins over Tyrrany on the first try.
(My guesses: The year 2030 we'll be in for Dependence as the norm, and the USA officially goes Socialist. 2045 for Bondage, because it never takes long for opportunists to show up. 2100 will see the Spiritual re-awakening, after enough of us are finally 'broken', and it will take another century to break FRee again. 198 years to go... Teach your grandchildren well!)
Rainbow stew
Gotta go now.

Yes indeed it is!
During the Clinton years alone, as James Bovard noted in Feeling Your Pain, "Federal agencies issued more than 25,000 new regulationscriminalizing everything from reliable toilets to snuff advertisements on race cars." And Bovard wrote that before Clintons final year in office, when the federal government issued more than 100,000 pages of new regulations.
