Good Morning Class. Welcome to School! Today, as you know, is Martin Luther King Day, and also the Third Annual Day of Repudiation of Jesse Jackson by Reverend Jesse Peterson and B.O.N.D. So in honor of that, we’ll use repudiate as today’s WFTD.

Here is my example with WFTD:

It is by no means clear, for example, Martha Stewart label would be welcomed at a Kmart rival like Wal-Mart, which doesn't use celebrity endorsers anyway, or even Target Corp., which has been doing fine without celebrity pitchmen also.

As for Kmart itself, well, it seems pretty clear that Wall Street has basically written the company off. At the stock's current price of $1.73 per share, investors are valuing the entire business at less than $800 million, or not much more than one-tenth its stated book value, which investors obviously think is a joke. Not a comforting thought for Kmart's stockholders, even if they've lost a bundle already. The message of the market is that more bloodletting may still be to come.

Now this is an interesting little development. Kmart is bleeding profusely from the books and there doesn't seem to be any way to stop the cash flow. I wonder if Martha Stewart is watching this closely? As most of you know, I am no great fan of Martha and any corporation that solely bases 80% of their operating cash on one outlet is not doing good business. Target, which I prefer over Walmart, and Walmart do not need to bring in high profile names and tricks to get people into their stores. So I doubt they are going to buy into the “Martha Stewart” branding policies. It certainly repudiates the claim that celebrities “sell” a business. Doesn’t look like all those high priced pitchmen did any good, now does it?

I REPUDIATE that today is even a holiday. I am at work today, like I am most Monday mornings.

Banks, schools, and government buildings are closed, but in most cities, their local governments don't REPUDIATE themselves from collecting fees (i.e. feed those parking meters). One good thing, lot less traffic this morning. No REPUDIATION on that piece of good news.

Leave it to a FReeper to repudiatethe author of an oppp-ed piece. Be Serious about Smoke is a piece from one of my local papers yesterday and is allegedly written by an MD. An astute FReeper noted that there is such a person lilsted as a professor at the local university, but iot says nothing about him being an MD. A search of the local yellow pages also reveals no such MD in, at least the lower part, the state.

Perhaps re-pud-she-ate?

Chaucer... not only came to doubt the worth of his extraordinary body of work, but repudiated it

Good for Chaucer, I always found him a little tedious.
