Nope.
Joy breaks out as a result of Jesus. (Believe me, I have experienced His joy in the midst of the most unhappy of situations.)
As I said earlier, Joy is much preferred over happiness.
Precisely! As I woke up on the side of the road that terrible August day in 1999 with a broken back, I was not happy. But the Spirit inside me leap and I had a moment of joy inexpressible with God! And so, from the depth of my heart I offered up the sacarifice of thanksgiving to Him because without His hand moments before I would surely been a stain on the highway.
You should see my helmet and yet I had scarcely a scratch on my body; and all the doctors marveled who saw me that day. I sent the priest away who came to see me by telling him to pray for the man who had done this to me. I wonder if he ever did? (And these are 2 of the 3 things I remember clearly from that day)
You find happiness in Jesus and from there comes the Joy (altough when you are first saved the two a closly linked) We are now discussing day to day living. First comes happiness then joy.
Happiness therefore admits of indefinite degrees of increase of enjoyment,or gratification of desires
Joy is the passion or emotion excited by the acquisition or expectation of good One, might not always be 'excited' but one can always be 'happy' even in sad circumstances.
