On second thought, I did go back and count how many times I used the words "I" and "my". More than the number of times I used those words, I looked at the context in which I used them. In every instance, the word "I" was used to minimize the role I had in my salvation.
My use of the word "my" was in recognition that my actions, at least the ones that are in obedience to God's will, are a result of my faith, and not because any goodness apart from God.
This can hardly be described as being arrogant or self-righteous. It might be correctly viewed as appearing to be very confident in my faith, which some might confuse as arrogance,
Maybe if you say it enough times you will believe it. No, your defensiveness about "doc's" comments was something less than confidence.
