"And Can it Be?" is one of the finest hymns ever written!

I also love John Newton's hymns. "Amazing Grace" is hard to beat! (But how about "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken?" Look at this line: "With salvation's walls surrounded, Thou mayst smile at all Thy foes"!)

Yes, "And Can It Be" is a Hymn I did not grow up knowing about - learned it long after I turned to Jesus Christ and the Gospel of Truth (had been brought up in a "dead" church - didn't know the Gospel til I was 19) - anyway - I LOVE this hymn now and sing it whenever I can.

I learned the other day it is Billy Graham's favorite hymn.
