How am I all "over the board?" My point is quite simple: the welfare state has been the greatest atrocity ever committed against the American poor. If you want evidence, simply compare the world of very poor before the rise of government welfare and after.
At the turn of the century (though their was more poverty) the inner city had a rich tradition of mutual aid, voluntary association, thrift, stable families, and self-help. Today, though there is far less poverty, the inner city is a jungle of Hobbesian individualism of all against all, irresponsiblity, welfare dependence, single parent families, and crime. How can you possibly defend the welfare state which has created this mess? You are only contributing to the continuation of this the vicious cycle by supporting "something for nothing" programs such as FS.
The poor need self-reliance and freedom, not hand-outs.

You have the right to contribute to any charity you wish. Our government does not have the right under our Constitution to confiscate our labor the way it is doing. Our Constitution was about individual freedom and minimal government ---not about Socialism.
I am aware of my rights, which include voting for Bush and representatives who pass lawful appropriations bills which you and all Americans are obliged to support with whatever taxes you and they pay. Nobody likes equally each one of the thousands of ways appropriations are spent. If you don't like the way your tax money is appropriated and spent, go to the polls; that is your remedy in our democracy.

Also if you look at what they call "TANF" (aka cash assistance) shows how much deception the government is trying to pull over on us: "Family independence", "Work first", "Texas Works", "JOBS", "EMPOWER", "CALWORKS", and so on. Very fraudulent ways of handing over taxpayer money to people who did not work for it.

Of course our forefathers had a different approach ---they had an American Revolution over a far lower tax rate than we have today. They overthrew a King for much less than we are putting up with today.

You just don't understand that you agreed to this form of coercion when you chose to continue living in a nation governed by the majority will.
I understand several things... One is that the concepts of "tongue" and "cheek," are alien to you, your protestations of being an Earthling aside.
Another is that we're supposed to be a republic governed by a constitution, not by majority will. And there is no Constitutional authority to redistibute wealth, whether to citizens or non-citizens.
If you want to transfer your wealth on your own, no one's stopping you. Then your self-congratulation might be more apt.

who pass lawful appropriations bills They are not lawful under the US Constitution.

The people of the great state of California held a *free* election several years ago and voted 3 to 1 in favor of proposition 187 which would have put a stop to much of the tax paid support of illegal aliens and the federal government stepped in and burned our ballots and declared our election unconstitutional. We worked for almost two years for this election and your federal government came along and kicked us in the teeth.
Wake up people.
Our borders and immigration policies have become a national disgrace, and now a complete national security nightmare.
End this government supported immigration "free for all".

Maybe it time to limet the The President to one six year term. It seems these guys spend the the entire first 4 years worrying about how ther going to be re-elected. Food stamps for illegals and amnesty? This is all about being re-elected, to hell with the country

And legal immigrants do contribute just as much as others. Those who immigrate as professionals or scientists contribute more than the average American, because they are highly paid and their skills are valuable. However, members of that group has to jump through loops to complete their process, and they don't need food stamps.
Don't confuse that group with those legal immigrants who need assistance. This group is a totally different socially and they immigrate using totally different laws. Usually as refugess, or relatives of naturalized citizens.
Lumping these two groups into one is unfair and incorrect. The second group doesn't contribute "as much as others" and are a burden on society. If they can't sustain themselves, they shouldn't be allowed to immigrate in the first place.

That's an outright lie. That's two lies you've told today.

Those who immigrate as professionals or scientists contribute more than the average American, because they are highly paid and their skills are valuable. They do. I'm all for the kind of immigration that gives our country people who will contribute and who can support themselves. They tend to be more educated, they understand and read the Constitution. Legal immigrants don't tend to resist learning the language of this country either. Amnesty is bad because it rewards those who have no respect for this country and chose to break whatever laws were inconvenient to them.
