My point had nothing to with Wyden, the Catholic Church--or, for that matter--Stella herself. I brought up the book as a (Jewish) reference of dispute on the Goldhagen charge of complicit Germans.

Nope--you have still missed my point in relation to Goldhagen. Perhaps I should have spelled it out better. Let me try again.

Goldhagen attempts to make the point in his book of a few yers ago that essentially ALL Germans knew of the genocidal actions of Hitler and his henchmen. I say this is rot.

To back up my opinion, I cite the Wyden book because in it, he relates that the Berlin Jews left there as late as 1943 STILL did not know of their coreligionists' fate. That's all I was trying to say.

Yes--some knew. The SS kept it within the Death's Head group; perhaps some of their family members knew. The Wehrmacht, for the most part, apparently did not know much (and there is some evidence that when the top Wehrmacht generals did find out about the "Final Solution" they were against it). Also, the people who lived near the concentration camps--they knew.

It is one thing to not like Jews, it is quite another to want and attempt to anihilate them.

And, I do not think that Stella was crazy; just a selfish, miserable b*tch going for herself.
