They have been working on this a long time
Judicial Watch, which is prosecuting the Filegate $90 million class action lawsuit on behalf of those whose FBI files were misused by the Clinton White House, first exposed the e-mail scandal in early 2000 through its client Sheryl Hall, a former top computer official at the Clinton White House, who testified that incriminating e-mail concerning virtually all the Clinton-Gore scandals had never been produced as they should have in response to document requests and subpoenas. Another Judicial Watch client, former White House computer contractor Betty Lambuth, also testified (along with others) that high-level White House officials threatened Northrop Grumman White House computer contractors to keep quiet about the hidden e-mail or face jail and firing. These threats occurred in the middle of the Lewinsky scandal. The scandal was the subject of a months long evidentiary hearing that included the testimony of the late Charles Ruff, John Podesta, and Cheryl Mills. The court is in now considering whether to commence criminal contempt proceedings. A decision is expected soon.

I don't expect much to come of it. Klayman once again overstates the evidence, at least that's what I gather after having gone through nearly all the documents on the Filegate case on the JW website some time ago. For one thing, Hall never testified that "incriminating email...had never been produced." That's just Klayman's spin. Hall testified that she heard Clinton staffers say in her presence that their intention was to stall responses as long as possible; she also swore, IIRC, that email and voicemail were not properly backed-up and thus, large chunks of email data were never searched in response to various subpoenas. Larry has hopes that there is incriminating evidence, but he really has no idea. The data will be searched, but under the law, as I understand it, only responsive documents can be produced.

He may get contempt of court against Podesta, et al., but that, too, could be less than likey. By the time anything comes of this, Larry'll be trying to get on the news deposing Osama bin Laden and Castro. There seems to be no current event that Larry will not try to attach his name to.

Cheers.
