NOTE the date of the article. I thought it was worth posting as it is still applicable today for giving insight into who pays what for taxes.

Dear Red, Great post. It's too bad the libs don't want to, or cannot, understand this.

Why do Libs want everyone to be equal, except when it comes to taxes? What's wrong with a flat tax?

I did not hear or read Ted Kennedy's speech (I already have high blood pressure - too risky) but I believe he said something like 'if we just postpone the already passed tax cuts for the top 1%, we could save Social Security and Medicare, and provide drug benefits for the elderly'. If the remaining 99% are that dependent on the top 1%, we are in deep trouble.

The author would have been well-served to read the FairTax bill and do some research into the NRST tax systems currently in bill form before Congress.
The bill may be obtained here (enter "hr2525" in "Bill Number" and in the resulting window click on "Full Display"), and to see the websites, click here, and here here, and here.
Such a tax system is far, far superior to the existing income tax system both in its benefits to individual taxpayers and the economic stimulus it would give the country.
The real point is we DO have a choice in the matter of taxation if we but educate ourselves a bit and work to eliminate the income tax/IRS combination from our lives while benefitting from the NRST.

"So, according to the official records of the IRS, the wealthiest taxpayers (the top 10 percent) are paying almost two-thirds of the taxes, leaving the remaining 90 percent of Americas taxpayers to pay the remaining one-third of the taxes. So, who is in fact being unfairly taxed? "Tax bump

Taxes are necessary for the support of the government.Bullcrap! This nation survived and THRIVED for 130 years without an income tax. It didn't need one then... why should it need one now?
And the Bible makes it perfectly clear that we must pay the taxes that we owe.
Double bullcrap!
Jesus was reminding the Pharisees that if they had rendered unto God first, they would have NEVER had to render unto Caesar, at all. They were putting their faith in man and his system, instead of entirely upon God.
It's arguments like this, that "Christians MUST obey their governments no matter what" that perpetuate the abuses of this system to begin with.
