You are, of course, correct sir.

But please also note (and I am always proud to relate this to my AA Republican friends) that 5,000 black patriots were under arms for us during the RevWar; this in the face of the Brits offering immediate freedom to American slaves who joined their side (and some certainly served with the Brits, but there were plenty of white loyalists also).

And finally, next time you see the famous painting of "Washington Crossing the Delaware" imagine some black faces on the rowers: approximately one-quarter of Colonel John Glover's Marbleheaders were black.

In sum, Mr. Markowitz, by all means pay homage to the black men and women who joined the patriot cause: just leave The General's portrait be.

thanks for telling me about that, there were 5,000 black americans who fought for the American side in the revolution.
