Recently, these scientists found that the speed of light, always regarded as a constant, is not a constant. It is constant in a vacuum. I'm not aware of that having changed.

Then you've missed some recent developments. They've been able to slow it down, INSIDE of a given media, and even stop it cold, and then re-start its' motion on command. VERY interesting stuff. .. not sure what it proves, but interesting nonetheless. . .
