That's exactly why I pinged ya over here to read; & hopefully, bone-up on some recent history that'd help expalin what you're seeing today by the Left's *players*.
It's important to note the many differing takes you'll find on Daily's use of force against the radicals.
In fact...it's flat-out facinating.
(methinks some of these people might've actually been there participating which might explain their revulsion & outrage; yea, Chitown cops could wield a billyclub like few others could & you'd hurt if you caught one upside the head?)
I mean, some of these same people expressing their indignation?
Were probably amoung the same crowd expressing diametrically opposing sentiments concerning last summer's race riots in Cincinatti & how the cops handled that sordid scenario; or, the bruhaha in Seattle?
I swear; that's just how much the times, people, & politics have changed in a mere 30 or so years.

This Chicago Mayor Daily was a real character; & his police department didn't screw around.
Not back then, they didn't; if a city cop told ya, "Git" he did-so once.
You had better have done *got*.
Fact is; Chicago's always been an exretemly rough & tumble town.
Cops then were the way they were for a reason.
*Not* a nice job to have; trust me.
But above all-else?
The Democratic Party used to be quite different than the one we see today.
The turn-for-the-worse change occured right around the years under discussion, here; moreover, the people filling the ranks of the Liberal Left today?
The one's who were ten years younger then, than you are now?
The DasHoles, Boniors, Gephardts, BwAAAnii FwaaanCs, Clintons (Rodham or otherwise) & many others...they all come from this ilk we saw in Chicago back in circa 1968 -- they're all cut from the same bolt of cloth born of those turbulent years.
Greatly unlike the old guard Democrats of my & their Father's day; these Boomer Brats grew-up hating this nation with their every fiber.
...I know; I saw the whole thing going down with a bird's-eye view.
Unless, of course, you bribed them, which was not at all uncommon in Daley's Time, I'm told...MUD
