The "state" is ultimately the people. Why do I not have a right to live in a community with common values?

So if I live in a community of racists, I should have the right to force minorities out of my neighborhood?

Depends on what you mean by FORCE. If you mean physically, that is a violation of constitutional rights, and no state, city or community can violate constitutional rights, no matter what majority wishes to. Now if you wish to look at such redneck, idiot ridden towns as Vidor Texas, they have successfully kept out minorities by simply being very cold towards them. The times that they have used force should be legally prosecuted, but there are no laws about giving mean looks, and refusing service.
