Attorney General John Ashcroft Picks Arthur Andersen to "Cook Books" For FBI
Rostenkowski precedent raises legal and ethical issues. Methodically but quietly during recent months, investigators for the House of Representatives have been tracking down priceless treasures and lesser baubles that have been taken from Capitol Hill by former speakers, including Thomas Foley, the current U.S. ambassador to Japan.
I certainly hope Andersen does a better job evaluating the FBI than it did evaluating the accounting principles of Enron.
Wasn't Radek (Section Chief under Mueller) the same guy who perjured himself about Patrick Knowlton's testimony? Maybe I'm getting his name mixed up with someone else?

Those AA people might have engaged in a lot of criminal activity, so the agent should be in full tactical gear, and be properly armed with an M-4 assault rifle.
It would be a shame if anything happened...

As an individual who voted for Republicans as "the lesser of the two evils" I don't find Bush's jokes the least bit entertaining especially when it involves an "Absolute Betrayal of the Public Trust".
Needless to say the depth of corruption in Washington D.C. involving both political parties is appalling.
Maybe he's waiting for an advisor to explain to him that it's not a real good idea to have Andersen provide the review services for the the FBI review since they've just been indicted by the Justice Department(LOL!), or, maybe he's waiting for Ashcroft to examine whether Andersen can provide the necessary coverup for FBI criminality, and facilitation of future criminality, while depending on the continuing sleep of the sheep, thus, greasing the skids as usual towards One World Government.
It is on Arthur Andersen stationary.

But that presupposes that you were actually the catalyst, when in fact Ashcroft and the Justice Dept. had to go through many legal discussions for the following in the story to go into fruition.
But knowing your(Uncle Bill's) ego, you will take credit from your commando keyboard, IMHO.
Government Bars Enron, Andersen Fri Mar 15, 3:49 PM ET
By MARCY GORDON, AP Business Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) - The government suspended Enron and its former accounting firm, Arthur Andersen, from new federal contracts on Friday, citing evidence of misconduct a day after an indictment that charged Andersen with obstruction of justice.
Current contracts some $35 million for Enron and $60 million to $90 million for Andersen are not affected by the action announced by the General Services Administration.
"To qualify as a responsible contractor, a company or individual must have a satisfactory record of integrity and business ethics," said the GSA, which oversees many of the contracts for the rest of the government and is Enron's biggest federal client.
The move came a day after a federal court unsealed a grand jury indictment charging Andersen with obstructing justice by destroying thousands of documents and deleting computer files related to its audit of Houston-based Enron. It was the first indictment in a case that has roiled the White House and Congress and dissolved the retirement savings of thousands of current and former Enron employees.
"Enron, its subsidiaries, certain former corporate officials and one former Andersen official have engaged in misconduct and caused internal control irregularities that seriously impact their suitability to receive government contracts," the GSA said. "Andersen has been indicted under one criminal count of destruction of documents."
Spokesmen for Enron and Andersen didn't immediately return telephone calls seeking comment on the suspension.
Chicago-based Andersen, a venerable firm that had been making some $4 billion a year providing auditing and consulting services, now is on the ropes as a string of its blue chip corporate clients have dumped it recently. Andersen said the criminal proceedings by the Justice Department (news - web sites) were tantamount to a death penalty.
The exodus of clients continued apace Friday as three Fortune 500 companies Sara Lee Corp., Northeast Utilities and Brunswick Corp. severed decades-long relationships with Andersen as their auditor.
Andersen insisted Thursday there are no plans to file for federal bankruptcy protection, even though some experts say that may be its best hope to stem the flight of corporate clients and its own employees and find a buyer.
Enron entered the biggest corporate bankruptcy in U.S. history in December, culminating a six-week downward spiral in which it disclosed a stunning $638 million third-quarter loss, the Securities and Exchange Commission (news - web sites) opened an inquiry into its accounting and its main rival backed out of an $8.4 billion merger deal.
Under the federal contract suspension, Andersen is barred from doing new business with the government while the indictment is pending. Also suspended was David Duncan, the lead Enron auditor fired by Andersen for the document destruction. He is cooperating with the Justice Department, his lawyer said.
The GSA suspended for one year Enron, its corporate entities, and several former officials among them ex-Chairman Kenneth Lay, Jeffrey Skilling, former chief executive officer, and Andrew Fastow, who was chief financial officer and ran the company's complex web of partnerships used to hide more than $1 billion in debt.
Andersen plans to move quickly to fight the indictment possibly to ask a judge to dismiss it, attorneys for the firm said Thursday.
The Justice Department said the investigation of Enron and Andersen was continuing. Prosecutors held open the possibility that a plea agreement could still be worked out with Andersen, which had rejected one this week.
Glad to see you had some refuting evidence, but as you know it won't be good enough. It will be just like the immigration threads, in which you provide reasonable evidence but they tell you they "know" what Bush is going to do.
Sigh.
Hey nothing will be ever good enough to some when there are conspiracy theories to be made out of whole hat every day.
