How do you hotly pursue someone/something that you have no idea where that someone/something is located???? this guy must generate lots of interest in his circles wherever he goes, so it stands to reason that there will be lots of activity at his current location. can it really be that hard to find this guy? seems to me it would be rather easy.

Nonsense. They don't know nothing. There is no evidence, no trails, there is only speculation, and now political considerations. "Should we say we think he's dead or should we say we think he escaped? Let's have an all night brainstorming session to decide!"
