I just finished this book and it is scary.
No, the fact that Pat is preaching his doom and gloom is scary. There's a lot of good in this country if you look for it. Pat's the typical washed up politican with ideas that never change who's crying Wolf, Wolf, Wolf. Then he thinks he can charge in on his white horse, run for office and save the day. He'll never be elected and he probably knows it. Sometimes I think it's the only way he and his sister can have incomes. The only good thing I'll credit him with is he destroyed the Reform Party.

You obviously did not read the book. Buchanan agrees with you and says that there is lots of good in this country. He points out much of the good this country and the west have done like ending slavery and fighting fascism and communism. He wants to continue this great country. Surely, you don't oppose that?
How does it feel to be on the same side as Buchanan?
The point of that last snide remark was to illustrate that personal dislike for a person or group should not interfere with your judgement.
Does it?
