Ok, I think that America has always been the melting pot. Pat Buchanan just points to the continuation of a trend that has made America great. I doubt if you celebrate traditional Celtic festivals, but you certainly have ancestors who were Celts. My point is, your culture is American, a combination of all of the cultures of those who come here. The same will be true for your children and grandchildren. I don't much care if minorities outnumber whites. That seems to be what Pat worries about. I guess Republicans need to expand their base. They can keep me by voting for freedom first.

Interesting post, and I appreciate the thought that went into it, though I disagree. Actually Buchanan is not against immigration but wants it controlled in a way that protects our American Way. I think you bring up the diversity argument as if diversity has some utility. Diversity is a neutral concept, neither good nor bad in and of itself. What matters is truth. And a diversity that is against truth is bad. In other words, immigrants who despise our laws and social institutions should not be here.

Of course immigration policy is only one of the topics of this book. What do you think of the others like the liberal assault on our children and social institutions?

Republicans need to expand their base.

I have not read Pat's book, however, if he is referring to the 60's generation as the enemy, he is a lost, out of touch soul. Oh sure there are a few radical sects, but I feel the greater majority are a freedom loving, hard working group. The problem with the republicans is their refusal to give up a few antiquated, freedom smothering, self righteous ideals. Are we truly a party of smaller government? At 48 years old I refuse to have you dictate my religious persuasion. For God's sake, stop the inhuman jailing of your fellow citizens because your version of a righteous life doesn't fit theirs.

I do believe in the christian God. I don't care to go to wednesday evening prayer meeting. Expand the base, or burn in heaven. I am in total disagreement with Pat on under population. I agree with abortion rights, not the brain sucking part. Human over population is now and has always been our ticket to Hell on earth. Wise up a little, or lose it all.
