You know, what is scary about this is that if the NAACP installs "outposts" on the statelines, they'll be an irresistable temptation for a hotheaded quarrel. Then, with bloodied nose, they get to roll around on the ground wailing at the media cameras, and the South gets another black eye.

I agree. If we do any freeping I suggest welcoming brochure's and thanking people for coming to SC. Not confronting the naacp and yelling and screaming at them. Ignore them and talk to the visitor's and explain why the naacp is wrong.

Mamzelle, until I moved to Raleigh in May, I lived in Greensbor, the home of the Klan-Communist Workers Party "shoot out". Believe me, I know EXACTLY what can happen when one groups provokes/dares another group.
This is VERY, VERY scary to me. I don't want North Carolina to be used as a "staging area."

Any counter-protest organized by the SC Chapter will follow the "DC Chapter rules of protest."

That is why level headed people are obliged to take an active role in this. If not then the more emotional sorts will take the opportunity. Good people must lead, not follow. Part of leading is showing the peaceful way of protesting. King followed Ghandi's example with tremendous success. Seeing dogs sicked on people was bad PR for the South. Not seeing militant blacks looting stores was good for blacks. Keeping your own house in order is part of fighting the good fight.
