I'd like to know where the "perjury' angle comes in. He would have had to give his statement to the FBI under oath and I don't think he testified before the Grand Jury although it is mentioned in the articles. In the Sun article it is noted he was charged with making false statements which is a lot different than perjury. The former more akin to public mischief or obstruction of justice.

IMHO, the typical "foreign" student fits the same profile as a seasoned soldier or intelligence officer in another counrty's service. Everyone I met seemed very well financed, especially the communist Chinese and middle easterners.
