Interesting statistics. Things changed around 1996. It's surprising how little money it takes to influence politicians. Enron lost something like $60,000,000,000 while it took under $5,000,000 to pave the way. That's a 12,000 to 1 ratio. Wanna steal $12,000? No problem, all we require is a $1 contribution. I think the US is way more corrupt than third-world dictatorships. In third-world dictatorships the politicians would at least ask for 2-20% on any deal. Here all it takes is 0.008%.
