The number seven is of significance in the Torah - seven days to create the universe, seven days in the week, seven branches on the menorah, etc. Seven times seven, 49, is also of significance in various places. If you count in the Hebrew text of the Torah from the first "tav," then skipping 49 letters, the 50th letter is a "vav." Repeating this two more times, you come up with "resh," then "hay," which spells "Torah" in Hebrew. Diagrams at this site.
Additionally, if you perform the same procedure, only backwards, in Deuteronomy and Numbers, you find "Torah" spelled out again.
This is only one example of this kind of characteristic of the 304,805 letters of the Torah.
