My father was raised Christian and married my mother who was an atheist. As a child, I was given a choice whether to go to church with my father or stay home with my mother, brothers and sisters. (Regardless, my father went every Sunday)
Eventually we all started going with my father although it was never forced on any of us. I admire my father for his leadership by example. Why do you ask?

That is exactly what the Romans thought of them. So much so that some Romans were shocked and alarmed at the Christians.

How can I truly answer that question?
If all squares were perfectly round, would they still be squares?
Are we now to replace absolutes with variables? - To accomplish what?

re: Post 47That's the best you got? Not much of a contradiction when you consider it's a NEW covenant. To say that it's NEW obviously implies that it's different than the OLD.

Creation is NOT a scientific model, it is a myth, put together by some ancient medicine man to explain how we came to be. They had no facts, they had no proof, so they made something up that made a kind of sense.
Evolution on the other hand IS a scientific theory that has many FACTS to back it up. As a matter of fact the facts are so substantial, that Evolution looks to be indeed what happened and is happening.

I'm just curious how much impact parents' religious beliefs have on their childrens' religious beliefs.
I think a lot. It's a form of indoctrination. That's why you don't see the major religions in any country shifting from one generation to the next.

The bible is not a history book
Excuse please? Sorry, but that is EXACTLY what it is, except for the fact that it is not even a good one of those. It is filled with assumptions and biased towards a religious belief, otherwise it is indeed a history book.

THERE IS NO Scientific PROOF of Creationism, nothing, notta, ZERO evidence except in the bible. The creation Myth is just that, a myth. It is a superstition, it is a story that was made up to explain the existence of man by some religious leader or medicine man. ALL cultures have a creation Myth, ALL, and NONE of them are the same.
AGAIN, THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC PROOF of creationism, there can't be, because it was made up!! HELLO!!!

I personally believe that a parents religious belief(s) can have a positive or a negative affect on a child. If you force a child to eat vegetables, it does not necessarily mean they will eat them as an adult.
But thats not exclusive to only religious beliefs.

To believe that god wrote it and is infallible is obviously false because the book is full of self-contradictions. Of course someone who wants to believe so they lack the strength of character to admit that they live without all of the answers is not going to get far along this line of reasoning. This statement of yours is very ironic. People accept Christ because they know they don't have all the answers, especially the most important one, "What is the purpose for my life?". Without God, life would have no purpose. If you believe that you simple cease to exist after your physical death, why not hasten the process and commit suicide. The founder of Dadaism in the early 20th Century suggested that suicide is rational since life had no meaning, but he apparently did not have the courage to follow his own alleged belief.

Why the need to "prove" creationism. I "choose to believe" that the universe is overseen by a higher power. I feel no need to justify my belief with "science." But then again, I am not a fundamentalist, just a poor, unsaved sinner.
