Here's your "Patriot Act"..............kick every last one of those malignant, reason-defying parasites out of office.

A true act of patriotism.

Actually, the Patriot Act is crap. None of the elected even read the damned legislation before voting for it. Have you?

Davis is a self-serving opportunist, who at the Bush Ontario Town Hall meeting, was almost booed out of the building 10 minutes before the President appeared. He has ignored and circumvented state initiatives passed by overwhelming numbers of voters: Prop 187, Prop 22, and has stuck us with locked-in electricity rates for the next 5 years, all with impunity. It's becoming a running joke here. But he thinks he'll win re-election in a mudslide, which he probably will. What freaking ever!!!

Haven't got the time nor writing ability. There are plenty of really talented analysts here on FR who could do a much better job. I am only capable of smart arsed remarks while at work. ;^)

...the Patriot Act, which if enforced properly and ethically, wouldn't pose any danger to Americans....

Dreamer, you know you are a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said dreamer, you're nothing but a dreamer
Well can you put your hands in your head, oh no!
I said 'Far out, - What a day, a year, a laugh it is!'
You know, - Well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do

Dreamer, you stupid little dreamer;
So now you put your head in your hands, oh no!
I said 'Far out, - What a day, a year, a laugh it is!'
You know, - Well you know you had it comin' to you,
Now there's not a lot I can do.....

OK...OK....Here is one of my problems with it:

Remember he “Know your customer” plan a few years back? That was defeated soundly.

Remember the Bank Secrecy Act? Under that law your bank must file a report with the Federal Government every time you engage in a transaction with the bank involving more than $10,000 in cash. If you deposit $10,000 in cash the bank files a report. If you withdraw ten grand, the bank files a report. You are not told the bank is filing a report nor given a copy of the report?

Well … Section 365 of the USA Patriot Bill has just expanded this reporting requirement. Now it applies to most businesses in addition to banks. Now, if you go to a business and spend more than $10,000 in cash that business has to report your name, address, social security number and other pertinent information to the feds.

What does this have to do with international terrorism? The terrorists who attacked us did not deal in large amounts of cash. They carried picture ID cards and used credit cards. They NEVER spent $10,000 in cash with any business.

Go look at my post thirteen, and don't try to paint me as mindlessly supporting this piece of legislation.

Don't make it sound like I am unaware of any dangers.................okay feinswinesuksass?

What's really the beef here? I didn't trash the President hard enough for your liking?

Say Byron, what do you Aussies use today to hold the government at bay? Pea shooters?

How could you let them get away with it, oh brave fierce one?

I know. Your government probably realized that her 'subjects' are just as malleable as those in Europe.

Here, my government always knows that if they go overboard on anything, we Americans will push the reset button on the Constitution, otherwise known as the Second Amendment.

Your government apparently came to the realization that you and your friends would surrender your rights faster than the French (and were correct).

Dreamer.

Dealing with Denial

A Chat with Dr. Gary Wood, clinical psychologist, Florida, Sunday, March 19, 2000

Dr. Wood:The subject for this evening is denial. I will discuss this from a psychological perspective. I will offer a definition of denial which you can react to from your particular circumstances.

Technically, denial is an unconscious process which permits an individual to resist a threatening thought or situation. Denial preserves the individual mentally as he or she experiences anxiety about the conscious threat. We will go from here to your questions

We've done neither, bud. we're an independent nation, with very high levels of gun ownership, where (IMO) shooting and hunting are far easier to enjoy than in most states of the US.

Now : any chance of addressing the actual issue?
How long until Ma. governor-to-be Robert Reich follows Davis'* lead, for instance?

*or should that be, Bush's lead?

There's no denial here. My post 13 registers a healthy dose of skepticism and caution regarding any legislation.

Yeah right, Byron.

Uh huh.
