[history]
Like thousands of other music lovers, Scott Hurring recently downloaded a Napster-like music file-sharing program called Grokster to test drive for chasing tunes. A programmer at advertising services agency Graphic Type and a Net veteran, Hurring disliked the program and uninstalled it. Or so he thought.

I have a four computer, networked printer, and scanner at my house. I depend totally on Zone Alarm Pro, Norton System Works 2000, Adware, and my Linksys Nat firewall. Your setup sounds very similar to mine. Check out Linklogger ; it monitors your Linksys router appliance and logs inbound connection attempts and outbound connections it/you deem suspicious. Very good, interesting stuff. Recommended.

My daughter put BearShare on her computer. It caused a lot of problems. We reformated and re installed windows. The only way to fix it.
I hate spyware.

"Antivirus companies are ho-hum about the threat, saying they haven't yet seen any direct harm."
I found this line quite interesting.
They certainly get worked up about other virus/trojan horse/etc software that doesn't do any "direct harm".
Not all of them erase harddrives, etc.
Quite a few simply propogate themselves, maybe do something "cute", etc.
They jump right on those, why not this?
