"Ever get one of those glow-in-the-dark St Michael statues? I had one by my bed when I was a kid."

And glow in the dark rosaries too.

These settlers were, of course, predominantly Protestant.

I think the writer of this article just happened to have left out the history of why Protestants left certain parts of Europe?

Hint: it begins with John Hus, Menno Simons, etc.

Just curious as to why you're bringing up an article that's nearly 2 years old?

It is under the heading Historical Roots. That's the way it was way back in those days but that kind of fear, that Catholics and the pope are trying to take over the world......again.....still persists even in this day and age. It's regressive and hurtful to Catholics today.

Because it is still pertinent.

Hey, Satan knows the right address. No sense bothering with all the conflicting and contradicting clamor of Protestant denominations (38,000 and counting). They're no threat to him, at least, not compared with the barque of St. Peter.

BTW- The other day I saw a boxing-rabbi for sale. The nun could probably take him 2 out of 3 rounds.

Thanks for my first laugh of the evening.

Does my "I Survived Catholic School" bumper sticker count as self-abuse then? :-)

A strange way to show your support for the non-bashing of Catholicism - to bash Protestantism. Do you believe that Protestants aren't Christians somehow? If so, you are in error with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

I don't think that the Pope is trying to take over the world. However, I do believe that there is a lot of shady business that bad people inside the Catholic Church have engaged in, and the Pope is doing no one a service by covering it up. I am referring especially to the hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of fake bonds that were laundered through the Vatican Bank in the late 70's / early 80's.
