"If anyone says that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in divine mercy, which remits sins for Christ's sake, or that it is this confidence alone that justifies us, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA"

All this is saying is that you cannot simply rely on your faith to be saved. You know: fornicators, sodamizers, murderers aren't welcome in Heaven; all those who cry Lord, Lord won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. And what about the quote: 2Cor9:9 "He who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully."

Meaning that you can't presume upon your faith, and that to the extent that you move your butt and act on it, you will be rewarded.

Even Ezekiel addresses this (33:18-19): "When a virtuous man turns away from what is right and does wrong, he shall die for it. But when a wicked man turns away from wickedness and does what is right and just, because of this he ahall live."

If anyone says that the justice received is not preserved and also not increased before God through good works, but that those works are merely the fruits and signs of justification obtained, but not the cause of its increase, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA"

Notice this isn't saying the justification is gotten through the good works but preserved and increased.

Too late to go into more.

Let's see what you do with this.

1 John 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Seems pretty clear to me. These things are written that I may know. That I can have confidence based on what God said. This is one of the greatest points of difference between the RC Church and Bible believers. I believe in what the Bible says, and it gives me confidence that I have eternal life. It is based on faith alone, not works. Faith. That is why Luther split, the Bible teaches one thing and the RC Church teaches another, and your doctrinal statements from TRENT, VATICAN II and the New Catechism prove it.
