Yes, the rumors are true. I had the opportunity to ask our president a question today.
First, it began with a statement. Sorry, but I don't remember it exactly ----- Mr. President, my son-in-law recently returned from a cruise on the USS ENTERPRISE. He wants you to know that everyone on that ship, down to the last man and woman, is proud to call you their commander in chief.
He smiled and the crowd gave a huge standing O.
Then one of the event helpers tried to take away the microphone. I politely said no, I hadn't gotten to ask my question.
"Mr. President, now for my question. After you send Tommy Daschle to his room for being bad, please tell us how you plan to end our nation's dependence on foreign oil."
What a fun time and a great right wing audience!

Way to go, Doug! (from the High Desert)

Great job, Doug!! Absolutely terrific!!
It's clear that the President was moved by your remark on the military and everyone with half a brain knows why. The Daschle remark was priceless!

Just saw the re run on C Span.
Bravo. Good job. Thanks, we all needed that.

Were those guys in the parking lot the ones you scalped the ticket to, to get a didgital camera?
Why didn't you do a song paradoy for the nation while you had the chance?(grin)
I didn't get to see it, but, boy! I'm sure hearing about it... congrats!!! (now you have an encore problem!)(grinning even harder)
To: LadyX
I didn't see it, but when I heard about it, I just knew it had to be him, as he was on here last night hawking a free ticket in trade for the loan of a didgital camera. I was tempted, but Ontario is at the south end of this northbound State of mindlessness called Aztlan California! Si?

No, fortunately I didn't have to scalp a ticket. The Chid came through late last night.
The last thing the nation would need is to hear me sing.

I'm so delighted you said your Tommy Daschle to his room line. Someone HAD to say it. The Prez couldn't. Others in Congress are afraid to come right out and knock Tommy too bad. Only an audience member (and to my delight in finding this out tonite on this thread, a FREEPER to boot), could get away with this. What a perfect set-up for the Prez. Well, well, done. Kudu's and hat's off to you.
To: Petronski
Bush was careful not to criticize Daschle by name and the president did not respond when one man in the hand-picked Republican audience asked Bush about making ``Tommy Daschle go to his room for being bad.'' Hmmm...don't remember ever seeing those kind of caveats after a Hillary speech during her "listening" tour.

DOUG!!!!!!!!!! You are WAY TOO COOL!!!!! I canNOT believe you got to the podium! Wowowowowoowwwww I'm so proud of you!! CCC, THANKS for the pic!
To: SierraWasp
An adult in the White House. We almost forgot what that was like. Yep, a friendly FReep was fun.
I was somewhat please with the president's answer. He mentioned fuel cells. We have to move toward a hydrogen economy. I know it won't happen quickly, but I want to see movement and a real effort.

hand-picked Republican audienceI saw the pics from the loooooonnnnngggggg line, at dawn this morning, waiting to get in to see GW. That's the LONGEST hand-picked line I've ever seen!!!!
To: Brad's Gramma
Hand-picked audience, my butt. Tickets could be bought from the Chamber and I got mine from my congressman. No one asked party affiliation. Of course, many tickets were given to insiders in the party. But even any RAT spies in the crowd had an equal chance to get a microphone. Nothing was scripted. No screening of comments.
To: doug from upland
Your remarks were great! I had to watch the President's address again just to hear you again. Congratulations, you da man!
To: doug from upland; The Chid
You know I was being sarcastic, don't ya, about that hand-picked statement? I DID see the lines, and there's no way that was a hand-picked thing. You were MEANT to be there, at that moment!!
I'm going to be listening to Hugh's show....the whole thing...Monday. This is so cool. And The Chid, you did a great job on the pictures.
